More description of this project available with innovation team is:

As a conventional practice we were using lap splicing to join two rebars. There was wastage of steel to the tune of 7 to 14% in steel quantity. When the diameter of rebar is high the wastage is more. We have new solution to save on this wastage which is technically superior solution. We proposed to use mechanical coupler as an alternative to lap splicing. The requirement of splicing is more when length of concrete element is more than 12m. In case of pile foundations the quantity of joints required are quite high as pile lengths are varying from 25m to 66m. The saving potential for 3 projects in Bangladesh TL(C910, C922 and C928) and one RRTS project is about INR 6.75 Crs. This solution is scalable and can be institutionalised and results in competitiveness while bidding for new tenders.
